Orange Slice Cake
Orange Slice Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 2 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 1/2 c. buttermilk and 3 1/2 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
Add eggs; beat after each addition.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Place flour in a large bowl.
Add dates, candy and candied cherries.
Stir and coat each piece; add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture.
This makes a stiff dough.
Put in greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 250Β° for 2 1/2 hours or until straw comes out dry.
Mix 1 cup fresh orange juice with 2 cups confectioners sugar.
Pour over cake.
