Orange Slice Cake
Orange Slice Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 cup butter or margarine, 2 cups sugar, 4 eggs, 1 tsp. soda and 1/2 cup buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cream butter or margarine and 2 cups sugar until smooth.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, and beat well after each addition.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to the creamed mixture.
Place flour in a large bowl and add dates, orange slices, and nuts.
Stir to coat each piece.
All flour mixture and coconut to the creamed mixture. This makes a very stiff dough that should be mixed with hands. Put in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.
Bake at 250 degrees for 2
1/2 to 3 hours.
