Orange Slice Cake
Orange Slice Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. butter crisco, 2 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 1 c. buttermilk and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cut candy, nuts and fruits in small pieces.
Toss in 1 cup flour.
Set aside.
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time.
Add rest of flour alternately with milk; mix well.
Add soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix all other fruits. Put into well greased tube pan.
Bake at 275Β° for about 2 1/2 hours.
While still hot make glaze using 2 cups orange juice, 2 cups sugar and 1 tablespoon grated orange rind.
Simmer at least 1 hour, then pour over cake.
