Orange Refrigerator Cookies(From The Files Of Ola Dortch Williams) is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 3/4 c. sifted flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. soda, 1/4 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder.
In large bowl, combine shortening, butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and 1 unbeaten egg.
Beat on medium-high speed for 1 minute. Gradually add, alternately, sifted flour mixture and orange juice, orange rind and lemon extract.
Add 1 cup finely chopped pecans. Mix all and shape into a long roll.
Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator several hours or overnight.
Slice thin and put on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350Β° for 12 minutes.
