Orange Nut Cake
Orange Nut Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 3/4 c. sugar, 4 eggs, separated, 1/2 tsp. soda, 1 pkg. dates and 1 tbsp. orange rind, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Chop dates; add boiling water and let cool.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg yolks, one at a time; mix well.
Add orange rind and juice to date and water mixture.
Sift flour, soda and salt together.
Blend date mixture into creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients.
Add nuts.
Beat egg whites and fold into cake batter.
Pour into floured 10-inch tube pan.
Bake 1 hour at 350Β°.
