Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and baking soda into an ungreased 8-inch square pan.
Make three holes in flour-cocoa mixture with back of spoon.
In first hole, pour oil.
In second hole, pour vinegar.
In third hole, pour vanilla. Pour 1 cup water over all and stir with fork.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
