Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Mix together shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
Beat well, then add sour cream.
Add flour mixture until well blended.
Roll out on floured surface about 1/4 inch thick.
Cut and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 425Β° for about 12 minutes.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
