Blend together the sugar, shortening and eggs.

Add the salt, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; mix.

Stir in the oatmeal.

Sift together the flour and baking powder.

Stir the soda into the sour milk.

Add the flour and baking powder alternately with the soda and sour milk to the creamed mixture.

Add the raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto greased baking sheet.

Bake at 350Β° for about 10 minutes.

These freeze well.
