Cream the shortening and sugar 5 minutes.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 minutes.
Sift in flour, salt and soda.
Mix in oatmeal, chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop by level tablespoons on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 350Β° oven for 14 minutes.
Makes 7 dozen.
