Oatmeal Cake
Oatmeal Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 18 minutes. Made with c. boiling water, c. oatmeal, butter, c. white sugar and c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Combine boiling water and oatmeal.
Let stand for 20 minutes. Cream butter and sugars, then add to oatmeal.
Sift together flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt.
Add to oatmeal mixture and stir in vanilla.
Bake in a greased and floured 11 x 13 pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Mix remaining ingredients for icing and spread on cake. Brown under broiler until bubbly.
