Oatmeal Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 c. boiling water, 1 c. oats, 1/2 c. shortening, 1 c. white sugar and 1 c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Cook oats in boiling water; let set until cool.
Cream shortening, white sugar and brown sugar.
Add eggs and beat, then add oat mixture with flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and chopped nuts (optional).
Bake at 350Β° or until done.
