Dissolve the yeast in the water.

Scald the milk.

Add the butter.

Cool to lukewarm.

Add softened yeast, sugar and salt. Mix well.

Stir in 1 1/2 cups sifted flour, egg and fruit.

Add 4 1/2 cups flour gradually to make soft dough.

Knead well.

Place in greased bowl.

Cover and let rise until double in bulk.

Punch down and let rise again.

Shape into 2 loaves.

Put in greased pans and let rise.

Bake 35 minutes in a 350Β° oven.

When cooled, frost tops.
