Combine 2 teaspoons sugar and 1 tablespoon cornstarch in saucepan.
Add 1/2 cup water.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and clear.
Beat egg whites with salt and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Add 4 tablespoons sugar after adding cornstarch mixture.
Beat until it stands in stiff peaks.
Spread on pie.
Bake for 10 minutes at 350Β°.
