My Favorite Apple Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 lb. tart apples, peeled and sliced (8 c.), 1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, 1/2 stick butter or margarine, melted and 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Add apples, mix well. Line a 10 or 12-inch baking dish with pastry, add apple mixture. Pour apple juice around edge (not on apples).
Cover with top pastry, sealing edges.
Cut slits in top.
Brush with margarine, sprinkle with white sugar.
Bake at 425Β° for 40 minutes or until juice bubbles through slits.
This is a deep-dish pie.
Pan must be at least two inches deep.
