Mount Vernon Cake
Mount Vernon Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 lb. sugar, 1/2 lb. butter, 1 3/4 lb. flour, 6 eggs and 1 pt. sour cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream butter and sugar; add the egg yolks, well beaten, then the cream and flour with spices alternately, then the well beaten egg whites.
Last of all, the well floured fruit.
Bake about 2 hours.
Cover top first hour with buttered paper.
This was probably baked in a brick oven at Mount Vernon.
