Brown whole onion butter and very little water. Some salt may be added.
Add at least a quart more water and bring to a boil.
Add rice and cook about 15 minutes (not more or less), then add macaroni and another pinch or so of salt; cook about to 12 more minutes.
Stir often.
Don't leave it. Add water if needed.
Now, add 2/3 quart of tomato juice. You cannot hurry Rice
Soup.
If you don't have 1/2 hour to stand near, don't start to make it.
