Mom's Plain Cake

Soften shortening in a large bowl.
Beat in sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt in separate bowl.
Add half of flour mixture and half of milk to egg mixture and beat 300 strokes.
Add rest of flour mixture and milk; beat 300 strokes more.
Fill greased baking pan half full or pans.
Bake at 375Β° (moderate oven) 25 to 35 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
This is an old recipe and is good with strawberries over it.
