Mock Lasagna
Mock Lasagna is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 7 oz. elbow macaroni, 1 lb. italian sausage, 1 1/2 c. ricotta cheese, 1/2 tsp. basil leaves, crushed and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Brown sausage; drain off fat. Add salt, pepper, garlic and basil. Add 1/2 cup water. Cover and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a 2-quart casserole dish, layer 1/2 each starting with macaroni, Ricotta cheese, shredded cheese, then meat sauce; repeat.
Cook at 375Β° for 30 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
Serve with salad and garlic bread.
