Combine brown sugar, margarine, Karo and salt in a microwave-safe container.

On High, boil ingredients for 2 1/2 minutes.

Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.

Put popcorn in large, heavy brown paper bag (grocery type).

Pour caramel sauce over the popcorn and shake the bag vigorously.

Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes on High.

Remove bag and shake well.

Microwave for another 1 1/2 minutes.

Remove and shake.

Spread popcorn on waxed paper to cool.
