Marinara Sauce

Made with 2 tbsp. olive or salad oil, 1 small onion, chopped, 1 large garlic clove, minced, 1 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. chopped fresh basil or 2 tsp. dried basil, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Minutes before serving
In 2 quart saucepan over medium-low heat, in hot olive oil, cook onion and garlic until tender, stirring occasionally.
Stir in sugar, basil, salt, tomatoes liquid and tomato paste; heat mixture to boiling, stirring to break up tomatoes.
Reduce heat to low, saucepan and simmer 20 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally.
