Cream together shortening and sugar.

Add 2 beaten egg yolks and vanilla.

Mix well and add flour and baking powder.

Spread in a 9 x 9-inch pan that has been sprayed with Pam or other cooking spray.

Press firmly.

Beat 2 egg whites until stiff.

Stir in the brown sugar and nuts and spread over mixture.

Bake 30 minutes at 350Β°.

Cool before cutting in squares.
