Lye Soap is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 can lye, 1/2 c. kerosene oil, 1/2 c. household ammonia, 5 lb. grease and 1/2 c. powdered borax, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Dissolve lye in lukewarm water; let it get cold.

Melt grease, but do not have it warm.

Mix cool oil, Borax and ammonia in grease, stirring well, then slowly drain the lye into mixture, stirring constantly.

Stir mixture until it is about as thick as honey (about 10 minutes).

If stirred too long, it will be grainy. Pour into flat pan or box to harden.

When hard, cut into blocks.
