Made with 1 1/2 lb. boneless chuck steak, cut off all fat, 2 tbsp. shortening, 1 envelope onion soup mix, 2 medium green peppers, cut in strips and 1 1/2 tbsp. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Cut meat into thin strips, 2-inches long.
In a large skillet, heat shortening and brown meat trimmings.
Stir in onion soup mix and *2 cups water.
Cover and simmer 30 minutes (until meat is tender).
Stir in peppers and simmer, covered, 10 minutes.
Blend cornstarch with 1/2 cup water.
Stir into skillet mixture. Cook until thickened.
