Made with 7 lb. large cucumbers, 2 c. white lime, dissolved in 2 gal. water, 4 1/2 lb. sugar (9 c.), 1 tsp. whole cloves (tie in bag with mixed spices) and 1 tsp. mixed spices (tie in bag with cloves), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Slice cucumbers crosswise, about 4 or 5 slices per inch. Cover with white lime dissolved in 2 gallons of water.

Soak for 2 hours.

Rinse well.

Cover with clean, cold water.

Soak for 2 hours.

Drain, then add the sugar, cloves and mixed spices tied in bag, salt and vinegar.

Let stand overnight in this solution (use container you cook them in).

In the morning, put on stove and boil 35 minutes.

Put in jars and seal.
