Lemon Squares I

Beat egg whites until soft mounds are formed.
Add the powdered sugar gradually.
Beat until stiff; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar well.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with lemon juice, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Add lemon rind and pecans.
Gently fold in beaten egg whites and pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Bake at 400Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.
Frost while still warm; sprinkle with chopped pecans.
