Layered Pie
Layered Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tbsp. unflavored gelatin, 1/4 c. cold water, 2 c. rich milk, 1/2 c. sugar and 1 1/4 tbsp. cornstarch, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Have ready a baked 9-inch pastry shell or a rich crumb crust. Soak gelatin in cold water.
Scald milk.
Mix sugar and cornstarch together, then add egg yolks and beat well.
Stir this mixture into scalded milk; cook over low heat or hot water until the custard coats the spoon.
Stir constantly.
Take out 1 cup custard and add it to the melted chocolate.
Beat with rotary beater until cool, then add the teaspoon of vanilla.
Pour into the pie shell and chill.
