Layer Or 24 Hour Salad is an impressive salad you can prepare in about 1 hour 10 minutes. Made with small head lettuce, c. chopped green pepper, c. chopped celery, c. chopped red onion and sliced water chestnuts, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Place ingredients in layers in a low bowl and sprinkle a little salt and pepper as you go.
Layer lettuce, green pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts and frozen peas.
Press peas down tightly.
Spread a layer of mayonnaise over all.
Place slices of tomatoes on top of mayonnaise.
Sprinkle with grated cheeses, then crumble cooked bacon and chopped hard-boiled eggs over top. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
