Lane Cake
Lane Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter or margarine, 2 c. sugar, 3 1/4 c. sifted cake flour, 2 tsp. baking powder and 1 c. milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Sift together flour and baking powder and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and vanilla.
Fold in egg whites.
Pour into three 9-inch round cake pans.
Bake in moderate oven (350Β°) for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool on racks.
Spread Raisin/Nut Filling between cooled layers.
Frost sides and top of cake with Southern Frosting.
