Jam Cake
Jam Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. white sugar, 3 1/2 c. plain flour, 2 c. jam, 1 c. buttermilk and 1 tsp. each: soda, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Cream butter and sugar, adding a little buttermilk.
Add this to the soda which has been dissolved in a little hot water.
Put into this enough water to make smooth.
Add beaten eggs and remainder of flour and jam.
Beat all well, adding last the nuts and spices.
Bake in layers at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
Use a caramel icing.
