Jam Cake
Jam Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 2 1/2 c. sugar, 3 1/2 c. plain flour, 6 eggs, separated and 1 c. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cream the butter. Add sugar; beat well.
Add beaten egg yolks. Sift together the flour and spices. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add flour mixture and milk alternately. Add remaining ingredients except egg whites.
Stiffly beat egg whites and add last.
Pour into greased and floured pans.
Bake in 4 (9-inch) pans in a 325Β° oven for 45 to 50 minutes.
Ice with Caramel Icing.
