Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
Add egg yolks and beat until smooth.
Add 1 cup jam to this mixture; alternately sift in dry ingredients with buttermilk.
Beat egg whites and fold into batter.
Bake in two large cake pans or a tube pan in a 350Β° oven about 1 hour.
Blackberry or strawberry jam is used by this cook.
