Hot Water Cake
Hot Water Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 3/4 c. flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 c. cocoa and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt together.
Blend together shortening, sugar and eggs and add 1 cup hot water and blend.
Add dry ingredients, blending well.
Then add 1 cup hot water and 1 teaspoon vanilla, mixing for 2 minutes on high.
Pour into greased, floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake in preheated oven at 350Β° for 1/2 hour.
Top with frosting.
