Hot Rolls
Hot Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. mashed potatoes, 3/4 c. sugar or less, 2/3 c. shortening, 2 eggs and 1 cake yeast, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix potatoes, sugar and shortening.
In another bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water.
Beat eggs and add to yeast mixture.
Pour potato water into first ingredients.
Add salt, then flour; knead and set in icebox to rise to double in size.
Put dough on floured board; cut each roll from dough and work with fingers.
Roll over in greased pan.
Let rolls rise to twice their size and bake in moderate oven, 400Β°, until brown or about 30 minutes.
