Combine all ingredients except vanilla into saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full rolling boil.
Boil briskly for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat.
Serve hot over cake or ice cream.
Makes 2 1/2 cups.
