Put package of mincemeat, broken, with 1/2 cup water and boil briskly for 1 minute.

Combine the mincemeat, nuts, candied fruit, sweetened condensed milk and egg.

Stir in flour and baking soda; pour into a loaf pan that has been greased and floured.

Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until center comes back when lightly touched.
