Melt the chocolate chips.
Add egg yolks and a dash of salt. Mix well.
Beat egg whites and 1/2 cup of sugar; beat until stiff. Mix chocolate mixture, egg whites, Cool Whip and vanilla.
Mix together and pour over crumbled angel food cake.
