Great Strawberry Shortcake
Great Strawberry Shortcake is an easy dinner. Made with 1 box yellow cake mix, 1 qt. strawberries, 3/4 c. sugar and 2 containers cool whip, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Make cake per directions in 2 layers.
When layers are cool, punch holes in both layers with a 2-prong fork.
Leave 4 strawberries whole; cut remaining berries into 4ths or 8ths; add sugar and a little water to mix well.
Spread 1/2 strawberries over bottom layer; add top layer cake and spread the remaining cut up strawberries over top layer.
Beat thawed Cool Whip with mixer until it can be spread over entire cake.
Garnish top with 4 whole strawberries that have been cut into halves.
Refrigerate cake.
