Cream the butter, shortening and vanilla until fluffy.
Blend in eggs.
Mix cocoa, soda, salt and baking powder; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Blend well.
Pour into two 9-inch pans and bake at 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool and ice with your favorite icing.
