Gingersnaps is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. shortening, 1 c. sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 c. molasses and 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, unsifted, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Cream the shortening.

Add sugar, egg and molasses.

Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture.

Chill at least 2 hours. (You may chill overnight or longer.)

Roll in balls the size of a small walnut.

Dip the tops of the balls in the 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon mixture and place about 3-inches apart on greased (sprayed) cookie sheets.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375Β°.
