Gingersnaps
Gingersnaps is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. molasses, 1/2 c. shortening, 3 1/4 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda and 1 tbsp. ginger, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Heat to boiling point the molasses.
Pour it over shortening. Sift together and stir this into the flour, baking soda, ginger and salt.
Shape 1/4 the mixture at a time, keeping the rest of the dough in the refrigerator until you are ready to cut it out.
Roll as thin as possible; cut with small, round cutter.
Bake at 350Β° until crisp and dry (8 to 10 minutes).
Makes 100 or more.
Keeps well.
