Ginger Creams
Ginger Creams is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. soft shortening, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 c. molasses and 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. hot water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Mix together shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
Stir in baking soda and water.
Sift together and stir in flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon.
Chill dough for 1 hour. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake until set when touched lightly, no imprint remains.
Bake at 400Β° for 7 to 8 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen 2-inch cookies.
