Garbage Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 c. applesauce, 2 eggs, 1/2 c. butter, 1 c. dates, chopped and 1 c. walnuts, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Preheat oven to 325Β°.
Stir all ingredients into large bowl in order given.
(Butter should be soft.)
Mix by hand, then beat on medium speed with mixer for 2 minutes.
Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 1 hour and 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out dry.
Cool, then top with cream cheese frosting.
