Fruitcake Cookies is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. shortening, 4 eggs (1 at a time), 3 tbsp. buttermilk and 1 tsp. soda to buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs, mixing thoroughly.
Add milk and soda.
Sift flour, cinnamon and nutmeg with a pinch of salt.
Add to mixture.
Pour in wine; dredge fruits and fold into batter with nuts.
Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes in 300Β° oven.
