Fruit Cake
Fruit Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/2 c. molasses, 1 c. butter, 3 c. sugar, 3 c. flour and 2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Use 1 cup flour to dredge fruit.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add molasses, then beaten egg yolks.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add alternately with liquid.
Fold in fruit and nuts (use hands).
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pack in pans. Bake 1 hour and 40 minutes at 275Β°.
Line pans with 2 layers oiled brown paper bags.
Set pan of water on bottom rack of oven. If you need more liquid, use orange juice, only after you use egg whites.
