Cream butter; add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine next 7 ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Stir in walnuts.
Bake in 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan at 350Β° for 55 to 60 minutes.
Cool in pan 10 minutes.
Remove and cool on wire rack.
Yields 1 loaf.
