French Bread
French Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. dry yeast, 3 c. warm water, 4 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. salt and 2 tbsp. shortening, melted, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.

Dissolve yeast in water.
Add sugar, salt and shortening.
Add 4 cups flour and mix very well.
Add remaining flour, 1 cup at a time and knead in.
Place in greased bowl and punch down every 10 minutes for 1 hour.
Divide into 2 balls and let set for 10 minutes.
Roll into rectangle, then roll up into 2 long loaves. Place on greased cookie sheet and clip top every 2-inches.
Let rise 1 1/2 hours.
Bake at 400Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.
