This pie can be made in a deep dish pottery pie plate. Make pastry for the bottom only.
Spread half of the 4 ingredients on the unbaked crust.
Fill the crust with quartered apples.
The rest of the sugar mixture and pour on 1/2 cup cream evenly.
Bake on bottom shelf for 15 minutes at 450°, then move middle and bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350°.
