Forgotten Meringues
Forgotten Meringues is an easy dinner. Made with 3 egg whites (room temperature), 1 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Beat egg whites with salt until foamy; add cream of tartar and beat until whites form a peak.
Add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating at high speed for about 15 minutes.
Add vanilla. Drop into buttered glass oven dish
(8 x 12-inch pan or 9-inch pie pan) and place in preheated 400Β° oven.
Turn off heat and leave meringues overnight.
Do not look until morning.
To serve, cover with any fruit and whipped sweetened cream.
