Fig Bars
Fig Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 2 c. brown sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. lemon juice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Beat well the butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon juice.
Sift dry ingredients.
Mix with butter mixture.
Chill 1 1/2 cups figs or ground dried fruit with 1 cup water.
Cook 5 minutes.
Add 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour.
Cook 3 minutes; chill.
Take dough and cut in half.
Roll to 1/4-inch thickness in stripes about half as wide as length; spread filling down center.
Turn edges over to center.
Pinch together tight. Place on baking sheet cut side down.
Bake 15 minutes at 375Β°. Remove.
Cut in 2-inch slices.
