Heat bacon drippings in medium size skillet.
Add uncooked vermicelli; saute over medium flame, stirring constantly, until golden brown.
Add tomatoes and sugar.
Cover and steam for 8 minutes, or until vermicelli is firm, but tender to taste.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Sprinkle with Parmesan, if desired.
Serves 5.
